Police: Seven men arrested after viral car park fight in front of Bintulu grocery store

BINTULU, Aug 22 — Police have apprehended seven local men following an altercation at a car park adjacent to a grocery store in Bintulu, the fight's video which has since gone viral on social media. Bintulu police Supt Nixon Joshua Ali disclosed that all the suspects were apprehended by the Bintulu District Police Headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday and are currently being held for further investigation.

Ali stated in his statement today that the incident originated from a misunderstanding following a vehicle accident and was not gang-related. "The case is being probed under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which pertains to rioting, and expedited investigations will be forwarded to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office," Ali added, noting that a conviction under the section could result in imprisonment for up to two years, a fine, or both.
