Police record Hadi's statement over his article, says aide

KUALA LUMPUR - Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang had his statement recorded by the police over an article he wrote, according to his aide Mohd Syahir Sulaiman. The political secretary told the New Straits Times that the Marang MP underwent the recording last week in Kuala Lumpur. Syahir further explained that the police initiated an investigation into Hadi following complaints lodged by supporters of the opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP).

There were several reports submitted by DAP backers against one of Hadi's pieces. Hadi willingly provided his statement to assist in the police investigation and is prepared to answer in court if there are valid charges against him. While Syahir did not specify the exact article, it is speculated to be a column from Hadi's "Minda Presiden Pas" section.
