Osun Guber: Gov Adeleke urges unity among political leaders

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called for unity among political leaders in the state ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The request emerged after the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, appealed for peace following his meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja. Governor Adeleke praised Oyebamiji's appeal as a positive development amidst weeks of political tension.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke emphasized the importance of peace and stability for the people of Osun post-election. The governor also urged all political parties and their supporters to exercise restraint and refrain from actions that could disrupt peace in the state. Adeleke, who has consistently opposed violence for political gain, affirmed that his supporters would not target APC members, stating, "My supporters have not and will not attack APC members."

He further noted that the election season has concluded, and all parties should now focus on cooperation for effective governance and development. Governor Adeleke invited former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Oyebamiji, and other opposition leaders to join efforts aimed at advancing Osun's interests. He stated, "We are all important stakeholders in this Osun project."

Adeleke reiterated his commitment to peace and called for political cooperation following the election.
