NPP sets August 31 to September 3 for vetting of national officer aspirants

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set the dates for vetting of aspirants vying for the 2026 National Officers Elections. The vetting process will occur from Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3, 2026. This announcement comes after the submission of nomination forms, which closed on Saturday, August 22. A total of 50 nomination forms were purchased across the nine national officer positions, but simply purchasing a form does not guarantee an aspirant's validity.

To be considered a valid candidate, aspirants must submit their completed nomination forms and required documents within the filing period, which runs from Sunday, August 23 to Saturday, August 29. The vetting process itself will commence on August 31 and conclude on September 3.

The vetting schedule includes the National Chairperson, General Secretary, and National Treasurer on Monday, August 31; the National Vice Chairperson on Tuesday, September 1; the National Organiser and National Youth Organiser on Wednesday, September 2; and the National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser, and National Women Organiser on Thursday, September 3.

The Committee has not yet determined the specific time for the balloting, as they wish to complete the filing, vetting, and appeal processes before deciding on the final candidates. Fixing an election date too early could lead to postponement or suspension if appeals affect an aspirant's eligibility. Once the field of candidates is settled following the vetting and appeals, the Committee intends to announce a firm balloting date.

The NPP has called on all aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves in a way that promotes unity, mutual respect, and confidence in the party's internal democratic processes. The Committee remains committed to conducting the 2026 National Officers Elections fairly, transparently, and impartially, as per the party's constitution and relevant election regulations.
