Nitin Nabin holds first meeting with BJP’s new national team

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, BJP national president Nitin Nabin convened the inaugural meeting of the party's newly appointed national office-bearers. The gathering aimed to strategize for forthcoming State Assembly elections and engage in grassroots outreach, according to party sources. Additional meetings were slated throughout the day, with State presidents, State in-charge officers, and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states anticipated to participate, the sources disclosed.

The BJP unveiled the new national team under Nabin a few days prior. Comprising 65 office-bearers, the roster featured 51 newcomers. Noteworthy figures include 13 national vice presidents, such as former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former RSS functionary Ram Madhav, alongside former Union minister Smriti Irani, who was appointed as one of the eight national general secretaries.

B L Santhosh retained his position as national general secretary (organisation), while Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal assumed the roles of general secretaries.

The refreshed team comprises 12 women and six leaders from minority communities. Union minister Piyush Goyal was designated as the national treasurer, a position he had held prior to his ministerial appointment in May 2014 under the first Narendra Modi government. Amit Malviya was dismissed from his role as head of the BJP's IT department, and Deepak Mhaskey of Chhattisgarh was appointed to replace him. Hemang Joshi of Gujarat assumed the mantle of the party's Yuva Morcha president, succeeding Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya.

This organizational reshuffle, occurring more than a decade after the last extensive reorganization in 2015 under then party president Amit Shah, has sparked speculation about an impending Cabinet reshuffle.
