Murkomen issues fresh directive over goons’ menace, reveals Mwananchi ignored advisory

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has instructed security agencies to proactively arrest goon facilitators before they arrive at political gatherings. According to Murkomen, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) should not wait for goons to be present at a rally, but instead prevent their arrival altogether by arresting potential instigators.

He also called on Kenyan citizens to avoid attending rallies hosted by politicians who employ goons, urging them to abstain from supporting such events. Murkomen revealed that the lives of more individuals could have been lost at the Linda Mwananchi rally held in Homa Bay if the police had not taken preventative action promptly.

He emphasized that if the National Prosecution Service (NPS), Inspector General of Police (IG), and DCI had not arrested the criminals prior to the rally, the situation would have been far more dire. Murkomen urged political leaders to collaborate closely with security agencies and adhere to security protocols to ensure the safety of their meetings.

He criticized the opposition for representing and defending goons when they were charged with criminal activities. Speaking in Oldonyiro, Isiolo County, during a Youth and Women Empowerment Programme, Murkomen expressed disappointment in politicians who allegedly posed as upstanding citizens while actually organizing goon activities.
