Metal scrap godown gutted in Tirupattur

A private metal scrap godown in Perumalpettai, located near Vaniyambadi town in Tirupattur, was destroyed by fire on Saturday. The incident occurred when a fire broke out in the facility, leading to the destruction of goods valued at ₹8 lakh. Police reported that residents first noticed thick smoke emanating from the godown around 9 a.m., following which they attempted to extinguish the flames.

However, before fire fighters from Vaniyambadi town arrived at the scene, the fire had spread throughout the entire godown. Despite hours of intense effort, the firemen were unable to save the facility, which was entirely gutted. Vaniyambadi Town police registered a case in connection with the accident, suggesting electrical short circuit as the possible cause. An investigation is currently underway.
