Marcus Trescothick wants England Test role despite Mike Hussey approach

Leeds: Marcus Trescothick insists on continuing his involvement with England's Test team despite Mike Hussey's approach, according to the latest reports. Trescothick has been serving as the team's interim leader since 2021 and is leading the side on an interim basis ahead of Stephen Fleming's appointment. Trescothick, an experienced former opening batsman, played a pivotal role in England's 1-0 victory over Pakistan in the first Test at Headingley, which solidified the team's position as the series leaders.

The Test match saw Trescothick and the returning captain Joe Root mastermind a commanding innings and 103-run triumph against Pakistan. Former Australian international Hussey has reportedly been approached by Fleming, who used to coach Hussey at the Chennai Super Kings, to take up the role of England's Test batting coach. Trescothick expressed his continued desire to work with the England team, acknowledging his immense respect for Fleming's achievements as a captain and coach.

He, however, clarified that it was not his responsibility to comment on these matters, and he would await further notice.
