Hamad Bin Khalifa university welcomes new students as academic year commences

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) welcomed new students to campus for its orientation program, signaling the start of the 2026-2027 academic year. Around 900 new students enrolled in 51 programs, consisting of 315 undergraduates and 576 graduates. The cohort embraced HBKU's interdisciplinary approach, which fosters collaboration among a diverse group of scholars and innovators. The new academic year also sees the launch of the School of Education, broadening the university's academic offerings.

The College of Science and Engineering added two new programs: BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, as well as Master of Science in Integrated Circuits and Intelligent Systems Design. Through these programs and research spanning artificial intelligence, sustainability, health, humanities, and Islamic studies, HBKU aims to equip graduates with the necessary skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

University leadership and staff introduced campus life and academic expectations during orientation. Representatives from various colleges and schools emphasized HBKU's commitment to advancing education, research, and innovation. Provost Dr. Prabhat Hajela stated, "We are delighted to welcome our new students and equally pleased to welcome back those continuing their journey with us."

Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Maryam Al Mannai highlighted the importance of student development beyond the classroom, encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and purposefulness. The orientation reaffirms HBKU's dedication to enhancing national research capabilities and cultivating leaders who drive impactful change in Qatar and worldwide.
