Guardamar Castle hillside restoration moves closer with new erosion protection project

Work on restoring and protecting the hillside below Guardamar del Segura's historic castle has advanced with a new erosion protection project. The initiative aims to stabilize the land, manage rainfall effects, and enhance the surrounding landscape of this notable historic landmark. The project involves reshaping the terrain into terraces, constructing five gabion walls to contain stones and prevent soil movement, installing an irrigation network, and planting carob trees for improved landscaping and vegetation in the restored area.

This four-month project, once formally approved, will begin after the procurement committee's final approval, contributing to the Vega Renhace Plan's efforts to improve drainage, water management, and resilience to extreme weather across the region.
