Germany’s Merz to press cabinet for faster pro-growth reforms

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz plans to push his cabinet to expedite pro-growth reforms, according to a report by Bild am Sonntag. The chancellor emphasized the urgency of delivering comprehensive relief for the economy, particularly benefiting tradespeople and small to medium-sized enterprises. Merz, who leads the conservative Christian Democratic Union, highlighted that growth and employment are the country's most pressing issues.

He urged ministers to concentrate on swiftly implementing reforms agreed upon before the summer recess, focusing on areas such as taxes, pensions, deregulation, and digitalisation. Merz stated that these decisions made before the summer break must now be executed as rapidly as possible.
