Geno Smith throws a touchdown pass during his 1-drive cameo as Jets top Steelers 17-0

Geno Smith, returning from injury, led the New York Jets to a 17-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in a one-drive exhibition game. Smith, who played for the Jets from 2013 to 2016, threw for a touchdown and the Jets intercepted the Steelers twice in the first half. Smith completed seven of seven passes for 65 yards on the game-winning drive, with the last 13 yards coming on a pass to wide-open Jelani Woods.

The Jets' defense, a major weakness during last season's 3-14 season, held Steelers quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar in check. Rookie edge rusher David Bailey also had a strong performance, dropping Howard for an 11-yard loss. The Jets' offense, featuring rookie quarterback Cade Klubnik, struggled in other areas, passing for a combined 165 yards.
