Former West Brom Quevin Castro dies during friendly match in Portugal

West Bromwich Albion player Quévin Castro, aged 25, tragically passed away after suffering a collapse during a friendly match in Portugal. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when Castro, playing for Real SC, became unconscious during the early stages of the game against Estrela da Amadora. Emergency medical teams from both participating clubs arrived promptly at the scene, utilizing a defibrillator in their efforts to revive Castro.

Despite the rapid response, Castro was ultimately pronounced dead by medical personnel. The midfielder, born in Portugal, had moved to England at the age of 16 and played youth football for Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion before transferring to various clubs across the country. Castro returned to Portugal this season, signing with Real SC with the goal of helping the team compete in the Campeonato de Portugal.
