Esports World Cup finale: Teams battle for historic title

James Wade secured his first World Series of Darts title in Australia, defeating qualifier Brody Klinge in a closely contested best-of-15 final. Hailing from England, Wade, 43, triumphed 8-5 in the tense championship match at the Wollongong Entertainment Centre in New South Wales. This victory marked Wade's third appearance in a World Series final, a significant milestone given that he had previously missed out by 13 years when he first entered the competition in Dubai.

Klinge, a 34-year-old Australian Darts Association number one, put on a spirited performance, beating European champion Ross Smith in the opening round and advancing to the final after victories over Gian van Veen and Jonny Clayton. Despite his valiant effort, Klinge couldn't overcome Wade's superior skill and consistency, finishing the final with an impressive average of 101.62.

Wade, known as "The Machine," delivered a masterful performance, leading 6-2 in the match before Klinge mounted a remarkable comeback. Wade's final leg was particularly noteworthy, as he maintained his composure to secure the win despite the boos from the home crowd. Following the victory, Wade expressed his gratitude to the enthusiastic crowd, acknowledging that their support made the achievement sweeter.

The World Series of Darts final concluded the regular season, with the next edition set to take place from September 17 to 20 in Amsterdam.
