E-Challan System Launched on Major Motorway

The e-challan enforcement system has gone live on the Hazara Motorway, enabling motorway police to collect outstanding traffic fines from motorists before they leave the motorway. This system was implemented after authorities installed cameras along the motorway. Once a vehicle with an unpaid e-challan approaches an interchange, the system automatically detects it and alerts motorway police personnel.

Officers verify the violation and collect the corresponding fine from the motorist at the interchange. After the fine is paid, the vehicle is allowed to exit the motorway. According to SP Maqsood Dogar, the new system will enhance traffic violation surveillance and improve enforcement of traffic regulations. He further stated that the automated enforcement mechanism will also motivate motorists to adhere to traffic laws.
