Duplantis wins Lausanne Diamond League pole vault

Armand Duplantis, the world record holder in pole vaulting, secured another victory at the Lausanne Diamond League meeting in Switzerland on Friday. The 26-year-old Swede, who recently married Swedish model Desire Inglander and relocated to Monaco, aims to "grind out some big clearances" following a hectic start to the year. In the competition, Duplantis cleared 6.21m, coming close to his current world record of 6.32m twice.

He will face off against Greek rival Emmanouil Karalis, who also cleared 6.16m in Lausanne and is aiming for an even higher performance. Duplantis acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, "I love to compete, I love competing against Manolo, especially when he is on his A-game like this." Despite the competition, Duplantis expressed his excitement about the event, saying, "I m where I want to be.

A lot of the guys are where they want to be also, so we got some good competition. It s building up for a good result here. I really like to jump here. I broke the world record here in 2024, so we know it s a place that I, and we, can jump really high."
