Canada’s Aphrodite Deng jumps up the leaderboard at CPKC Women’s Open

Edmonton - Canada's rising golf star Aphrodite Deng made a significant leap up the leaderboard in the third round of the CPKC Women's Open. The 16-year-old Deng, who claimed the low amateur status in Canada's LPGA tournament last year, posted a remarkable 7-under-par 63 scorecard, propelling her to a tournament total of 10-under.

At the start of the day, Japan's Miyu Yamashita led the field with a tournament record low first 36 holes, a score of 14-under-par 126. Deng was among four Canadian women aged 18 and under to make the cut in the CPKC Women's Open, marking a first for the tournament. Vancouver's Anna Huang and amateurs Michelle Xing from Richmond Hill, Ontario, and Clairey Lin from Langley, British Columbia, continued their play into the weekend in Edmonton.
