Bryce Young and the Panthers find better footing in a 34-17 victory at the Jaguars

In a 34-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Carolina Panthers showcased improved performance in their preseason opener. Quarterback Bryce Young had a more successful outing, completing 5 of 6 passes for 49 yards and setting up a touchdown with a 58-yard drive that resulted in a 1-yard run by Jonathon Brooks. This marked a clear improvement for Young and the Panthers' first-team offense, which struggled against the Bills in their previous game.

Despite the game being suspended due to lightning, both coaches opted to end it early rather than wait the mandatory 30 minutes before resuming play. The Panthers, who were without 12 starters, managed 11 yards in three drives against the Jaguars (1-1), who opted to hold out all their starters as well. Running back Ameer Abdullah, a 12-year veteran, contributed 82 total yards on the day, including a 23-yard run and three receptions for 37 yards.

The Jaguars' backup quarterback, Nick Mullens, had a better performance against Carolina, completing 6 of 7 passes for 65 yards and leading to a field goal.
