Braves’ Sale says Brewers’ Misiorowski has ‘probably the most impressive fastball I’ve ever seen’

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski defeated one of his favorite pitchers, Chris Sale, and received a compliment in return. Sale, the 2024 NL Cy Young Award winner, remarked that Misiorowski's fastball was "probably the most impressive I've ever seen." Misiorowski, who has fond memories of Sale from his youth, pitched six shutout innings in his first head-to-head matchup with Sale.

His 96-pitch outing featured a mix of pitches, including 56 fastballs, 23 sliders, 14 cutters, and three curves. Misiorowski's fastball reached a top velocity of 103.1 mph, but overall, it was just an average day. Despite not utilizing his fastball as much as usual, Misiorowski still managed to strike out six batters and allow only four hits and two walks over six innings.

The matchup between these Cy Young contenders on first-place teams drew a sellout crowd, providing a playoff-like atmosphere. Both pitchers benefited from excellent fielding, with Milwaukee's Luis Lara making a leaping catch at the center-field wall and a final out in the eighth inning.
