Abiodun Receives PDP, ADC Defectors into APC, Mobilises Ogun East for 2027

Prince Dapo Abiodun, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, recently welcomed a large number of former members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the ruling APC. This event took place at the Ojude-Oba carnival ground in Ijebu-Ode, and the new additions were met with enthusiasm by other APC members and supporters.

Governor Abiodun expressed his satisfaction that these individuals had chosen to align themselves with the APC, stating that they had "seen the light" and were now officially part of the party. He emphasized that they would be treated equally and fully integrated into the party.

Abiodun urged both new and existing party members to return to their respective wards and mobilize support for the APC in preparation for the 2027 general elections. He expressed confidence that the APC would maintain its dominance in Ogun State, citing the impressive infrastructure achievements under his administration. These accomplishments include the construction of over 100 roads, with 26 of them in Ijebu-Ode alone.

Other notable projects in the senatorial district include the Gateway International Airport, the Olokola Deep Sea Port, and the Olokola-Kajola Gas Industrial Free Zone.

The governor also announced that the Ago-Iwoye–Ibadan Road would be officially inaugurated on Monday, alongside the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi. This project runs from Ijebu-Ode through Ago-Iwoye to Ibadan and was secured with the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Furthermore, the APC's administration has taken charge of reconstructing the Ilishan–Ago-Iwoye–Ijebu-Igbo Road, the Okun-Owa Road, Aiyepe–Odogbolu Road, and the Ikenne–Aiyepe Road.

Abiodun challenged opposition parties to prove their competence in road construction, asking them if they had ever completed even a single kilometer. He highlighted the APC's impressive record of performance, which has left opposition parties with little to campaign on before the 2027 elections. The governor expressed optimism that Ogun State would soon join the ranks of oil-producing states, pointing to the development of the Olokola Deep Sea Port and the revival of the OKNLG project as key factors in this transformation.

President Bola Tinubu's support for Ogun State, particularly in the area of infrastructure, was commended by Abiodun. He believed that the people of the South-west would support Tinubu in the 2027 election, based on his proven achievements in infrastructure and economic development. "Every son and daughter of the South-west will vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, not because he is a son of the soil, but because of his antecedents in developing the country in terms of infrastructure and economic development," the governor stated.
