A list of some of the items the U.S. is slapping with a 50 per cent tariff

The United States has announced a 50 per cent tariff on various Canadian exports, effective as of Aug. 19, following the expiration of a deadline set by President Donald Trump. The tariff applies to approximately five per cent of Canada's total exports to the U.S., valued at around $28 billion annually. This move comes after Canada and the U.S. failed to reach a new trade deal before the deadline.

The tariffs target goods from three categories: motor vehicles, dairy, and alcohol. The affected goods range from whey and milk protein concentrates to various forms of wood, furniture, and luxury items such as paintings and antiques.
