A day after an 18-3 rout, Yordan Alvarez sets the tone in a 4-0 Astros win

On Friday night, the Houston Astros rebounded from an 18-3 loss to the Angels by defeating the Athletics 4-0, with Yordan Alvarez playing a pivotal role. The AL West leaders secured their victory thanks to Alvarez's batting prowess, which includes leading the American League in batting average (.321), home runs (36), and RBIs (90).

Alvarez's first double of the game in the fifth inning put the Astros ahead 2-0, and his 28th double of the season, which ricocheted off the wall in left field, extended the lead to 4-0 in the seventh inning.

Houston starter Hayden Wesneski (3-1) allowed only one hit and struck out four in five innings, while four relievers completed the three-hit performance. For the Athletics, J.T. Ginn (8-8) surrendered six hits and three runs over five innings, and Isaac Paredes walked to open the fourth inning before a double by Daulton Varsho gave Houston the lead. Nick Allen drove in the first run of the game in the fifth inning, and Paredes scored again on a sacrifice fly by Christian Walker.
