Seoul Democratic Party Seoul City Assembly Vice Chairman Kim Yong-bae met with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon on the 22nd to discuss housing supply solutions for the use of the Yongsan Park land, but they were unable to narrow their differences. After the meeting, Kim addressed the journalists from the National Assembly and said, "We discussed various issues related to housing supply, but it was difficult to reach a broad consensus.

We fiercely clashed over issues such as Yongsan Park, Yongsan Fine Vesture, and the Green Belt." The government is currently reviewing the expansion of housing supply by establishing youth housing on part of Yongsan Park and easing the Seoul Green Belt regulation. Earlier, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kim Eui-soo met with Mayor Oh on the 20th to discuss the housing supply utilization of Yongsan Park, but he firmly expressed his opposition to the development of Yongsan Park.

Kim expressed, "The Seoul City has strongly opposed the proposal of providing youth housing on Yongsan Park, Yongsan Fine Vesture, and Green Belt due to various legal and transportation issues." He added, "I want to highlight that Oh is a politician with valuable vision when he says 'Gren Belt is not possible' and 'Yongsan Park can't give even 1cm.'

I criticized him for being too self-centered in dealing with the housing shortage of citizens." However, Kim confirmed that there is room for negotiation on the regulation incentive issues such as the revised density ratio for redevelopment and reconstruction. He stated that the future response fund will be used partially as a resource for youth housing supply, and Oh expressed his understanding and agreed to actively discuss it.

Following the meeting, Seoul City released a press release stating that Oh clearly expressed his opposition to using the core of Yongsan Park for housing supply. He then proposed finding alternative land for practical supply effects and emphasized that Seoul will actively search for alternative land even if it takes some time, such as the Taedong Water Recycling Center.

The Democratic Party and New Spirit Party had previously agreed to process the related amendment bill of the Special Act for Yongsan Park and the Urban Fiscal Reform Act in the upcoming National Assembly plenary session, reflecting the results of their recent discussions. However, if Seoul and the government fail to narrow their differences on the use of Yongsan Park land, the government-led housing supply in Seoul is expected to face difficulties.
