West End Motel and Matt Pike Honor Mastodon’s Brent Hinds with New Song “Return of the Kid”: Stream

The West End Motel, a soul, gospel, and heartland rock band led by the late Brent Hinds, released a new song on August 20th, the first anniversary of Hinds' untimely death. Titled "Return of the Kid," the track features the powerful vocals and guitar work of High on Fire frontman Matt Pike. The song blends elements of country rock and gospel with a solid rock and roll foundation.

The song showcases flashes of harmonized guitar and solos, embodying the perfect blend between southern rock flash and heavy metal energy. Clarence Clemens' saxophone adds a unique touch, while the drums provide a powerful rhythm, allowing the guitar to serve as the core foundation. The guitar solo is a heartfelt tribute to Hinds, performed with passion by Pike.

West End Motel co-founder Tom Chesire confirmed the song's dedication to Hinds through an Instagram post, featuring a psychedelic portrait of the late guitarist alongside the heartfelt "Long Live B Hinds!" Pike had previously collaborated with Hinds, providing a guitar solo on the guitarist's solo album, Pike vs. the Automation.
