Viera volleyball makes early-season statement with sweep of Melbourne

Viera Volleyball made an early statement in the season with a sweep of Melbourne, defeating the top-seeded team 25-15, 25-19, 25-17 in the district semifinals. Viera head coach Sarah Wayne credited the team's control of their side of the court and elimination of errors for their success. The balanced and potent Viera attack resulted in 10 team members scoring points, with 28 kills, 10 aces, and 7 blocks leading to points.

Viera junior Addi Casey led the outside hitters with 14 kills, while the team's setters were praised for their ability to set any of the three hitters across the net. Despite Melbourne's effort, they struggled to control their performance, closing deficits to win a few points in each set before ultimately falling short. Melbourne's head coach Maira Thompson noted that the team has potential but still needs to work on meshing together and overcoming the intimidation factor from the large crowds.
