Ukraine has shown its answer to Russia’s most powerful drones for first time. Meet Alexa Spatium, which can carry thermobaric warheads and fly back home

Ukraine has unveiled its answer to Russia's most advanced drones: the Alexa Spatium. This revolutionary jet-powered interceptor drone, developed by Ukraine's Defense Ministry, is designed to destroy a variety of targets, including small aerial, ground, and surface threats. The Alexa Spatium was built in response to Russia's Geran drones, which are equipped with jet engines and can outpace Ukraine's existing interceptors.

The Alexa Spatium's primary mission is to intercept and destroy Russia's fastest drones, such as the Geran-3, Geran-4, Geran-5, and Shahed-131. Its powerful turbojet engine enables it to chase down jet-powered targets with great speed, while its high flight ceiling and significant combat radius allow it to operate at various altitudes. The drone's versatile design makes it reusable, portable, and capable of striking a wide range of targets, including reconnaissance drones, helicopters, and other aerial threats.

The Alexa Spatium can be equipped with fragmentation, shaped-charge, or thermobaric warheads, guided by preset coordinates or direct control. It utilizes television and infrared search-and-aiming systems to ensure accurate targeting. With Ukraine having codified and approved 413 unmanned aerial systems for its Defense Forces since the beginning of 2026, the Alexa Spatium represents a significant step in closing the arms race between the two countries.
