UAE launches unified AI guide to redesign government services around outcomes

The UAE's National Committee for the Agentic AI Project has unveiled a comprehensive guide to redesign government services using artificial intelligence assistants. This move aims to streamline interactions between citizens and government agencies by allowing AI to understand customer needs and execute necessary steps on their behalf.

The Assistant AI Government Experience Design Guide establishes a unified approach for federal entities to overhaul their services, eliminating the need for customers to identify responsible authorities, navigate procedures, or repeatedly provide information. During a specialized workshop attended by officials and government teams from ministries and entities, Mohammed Rashid bin Taliah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Government Knowledge Exchange, emphasized that AI could fundamentally change the way people interact with government.

Under the current system, customers must find the required service, determine the responsible entity, understand requirements, submit information, and follow processes until completion. In contrast, the new model would enable a simple conversation with an AI assistant that would understand the customer's intent, determine required steps, execute them, and coordinate with relevant entities.

Bin Taliah stressed that the success of AI assistants should be measured by the ability to complete services and deliver desired outcomes, rather than the number of messages exchanged. The broader transformation involves shifting the burden of service completion from customers to government, as the UAE seeks to integrate Agentic AI into 50% of government services and operations.
