U.K., U.S. top destination for mangoes from Bengaluru airport

Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) reported a significant 33% increase in mango handling between April and July 2026, processing 1,226 tonnes of the fruit. Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) disclosed that the airport exported 2.63 million mangoes to 38 countries during the same period, utilizing 16 airlines for transportation.

The United Kingdom and the United States were identified as the primary destinations for these mango shipments. The growth in mango exports is attributed to persistent international demand for Indian mangoes and the efficiency of KIA's operations, facilitated by an integrated cold-chain network. The airport's WFS BLR Coolport plays a crucial role in this process, providing specialized cold-chain infrastructure and temperature-controlled zones ranging from 2°C to 8°C, -15°C to -25°C, and 15°C to 25°C.

BIAL emphasized that every step in the handling process is meticulously designed to preserve the fruit's freshness and ensure that its quality is maintained throughout the journey.
