Toronto FC midfielder Niklas Dorsch has undergone successful surgery to repair a broken cheekbone, the club announced on Friday. The injury occurred in the 91st minute of TFC's 3-3 draw against Charlotte FC on Wednesday, when Dorsch was hit by an elbow. Prior to the surgery, Dorsch had only played three matches for the team, scoring two goals.

The 28-year-old Dutch international has spent most of his career in Germany's Bundesliga before joining Toronto FC in July. Toronto FC has not disclosed Dorsch's expected recovery time, but the team will visit Lionel Messi and Inter Miami on Saturday.
