'The Odyssey' tops 6 mln admissions in S. Korea

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has reached a total of 6 million admissions in South Korea, according to the film's local distributor. This impressive milestone was achieved 16 days after the movie's release on August 5th. The film, based on Homer's epic poem, follows the journey of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon) as he returns home after the Trojan War.

The Odyssey surpassed Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which had reached 6 million admissions four days after its release on August 13th, according to Universal Pictures. It also beat out The King's Warden, a Korean historical drama that took 20 days to cross the 6 million mark, starting from its release on February 4th.

Since its debut on February 4th, The Odyssey has drawn over 16 million viewers. This impressive achievement has propelled the film into third place among this year's highest-grossing movies in South Korea, just behind Yeon Sang-ho's zombie thriller Colony, which garnered approximately 5.95 million viewers.
