Sybiha and Kallas Discuss Strengthening Ukraine’s Air Defense and Increasing Pressure on Russia

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha engaged in a phone conversation with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, as reported by UATV English. During the discussion, Sybiha informed Kallas about the repercussions of Russia's substantial missile and drone assault the previous evening, alongside the present battlefield scenario.

The two primary focuses of the conversation were on strengthening Ukraine and amplifying pressure on Russia. This included discussing the provision of enhanced air defense measures, specifically against ballistic missiles, stricter sanctions aimed at Russia's ballistic missile manufacturing and associated supply chains, as well as further endeavors to fully utilize the frozen Russian assets.

Moreover, the diplomats also addressed the security situation in the Black Sea and the significance of preserving the safety of Ukraine’s maritime grain corridor. Sybiha emphasized, "Russian attacks on ports and civilian vessels threaten our economy, freedom of navigation, and global food security." The conversation also centered on Ukraine's advancement towards EU membership and the subsequent steps in the accession process.
