Sports Fund must not become account for recurring problems – Kofi Adams

Ghana’s Sports Minister Kofi Adams has warned against using the proposed Ghana Sports Fund to address recurring football problems. Speaking at the GFA’s 32nd Ordinary Congress, he emphasized that the fund should focus on long-term investment in athletes, coaches, clubs and infrastructure. Adams urged football stakeholders to concentrate on building a stronger national football system, referring to the sports fund as a vital instrument for sustainable development.

"While the fund will certainly benefit football, it must not become a recurring account financing existing issues," he stressed. The minister provided examples of how the fund should yield measurable results. Investments in youth football should result in developed players, coaching initiatives should produce qualified coaches, facility investments should be utilized, and club investments should lead to stronger institutions.
