Sole Bidder Chosen for €239,000 Guardamar Castle Hillside Project

Excavaciones Simón SL has been selected as the sole bidder for the €239,000 renovation project surrounding Guardamar Castle. The municipal contract, part of the regional Vega Renhace Plan, was unanimously recommended by Guardamar City Council's Contracting Committee. Their offer of €239,023.40, including VAT, was €2,325.46 below the maximum tender budget of €241,348.86, representing an approximate 1% reduction.

The committee verified the company's documentation and approved its participation in the procurement process. Excavaciones Simón's proposal included not only the contracted price but also the delivery of three additional improvements specified in the evaluation criteria. However, they did not offer to extend the warranty period or accelerate the completion of the work.

With a total score of 70 points, the company surpassed the competition and was recommended to the contracting authority as the preferred contractor. The project aims to regenerate one of the gullies near Guardamar Castle by constructing terraces through earthworks, protected by five gabion retaining walls. This will mitigate erosion and prevent sediment from entering the municipal stormwater drainage system, thereby preserving the historic site.

An irrigation system and carob trees will be installed as part of the landscaping improvements. The work is scheduled to commence on the protected hillside of Guardamar Castle and is projected to take four months to complete.
