Sindh Orders Immediate Cut in Public Transport Fares After Diesel Price Drop

Sindh government has promptly reduced public transport fares in response to a significant drop in high-speed diesel prices. The Sindh Transport Department has instructed transport operators to fully pass on the fuel price reduction to passengers. The order applies to buses, minibuses, coaches, vans and other public service vehicles across the province.

Transporters must prominently display the updated fare lists on vehicles and at bus terminals. Authorities are conducting daily road checks to ensure compliance. Violations will result in severe penalties, including fines, route permit suspension and vehicle fitness certificate cancellation. Officials are required to submit daily implementation reports to the Sindh Transport Department.

The fare cut follows the government's decision to lower diesel prices by Rs. 32.63 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs. 363.06 per liter. The reduced diesel prices are expected to lower transport operators' operating costs, with the government requiring a corresponding reduction in fares for passengers.
