Several wounded in sword attack at Swedish school

Stockholm - A lone assailant wielding a sword launched a violent assault at Brinellskolan, a high school in central Sweden, injuring multiple individuals on Friday, according to authorities. The Fagersta municipality confirmed the incident and reported that the attacker had been apprehended by police. Aftonbladet news outlet stated that the gunman had been shot in the leg by law enforcement.

However, the exact number of casualties remains undisclosed, as police continue their investigation at the scene. The small town, home to approximately 12,000 residents, found itself under lockdown as emergency services, including ambulances, police vehicles, and a police helicopter, swarmed the area. Sweden's educational institutions have recently faced several high-profile attacks, the most recent being a mass shooting in Orebro in February 2025, which claimed the lives of ten individuals.
