RoadOne expands Port of Charleston operations with acquisition

RoadOne Intermodal Logistics has acquired Higgins Transport Service, a Charleston, South Carolina-based company specializing in port drayage and intermodal transportation services. The acquisition adds 15 drivers and increased capacity to RoadOne's operations in the Southeastern market. The transaction's financial terms have not been disclosed.

RoadOne recently opened a 384,000-square-foot facility in Summerville, South Carolina, which provides transloading, storage, and distribution services across the Southeast. Plans are in place to add a 279,700-square-foot warehouse to the property in the coming year. RoadOne currently operates nearly 5 million square feet of warehouse and transloading space, with access to an additional 85 million square feet through partnerships.

JC Carruthers, executive vice president at RoadOne, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering superior service throughout the Southeast global trade corridor and supporting customers' supply chain needs. Randolph-based Higgins Transport Service, which provides intermodal, drayage, warehouse, and logistics services, joins RoadOne, an asset-based provider with over 2,500 drivers at 100+ port, railroad, and truckload terminals nationwide.

Backed by Ridgemont Equity Partners and Nonantum Capital Partners, RoadOne aims to leverage its national platform to drive future growth in the Southeast global trade corridor.
