Rivers ADC: Sokonte Davies resigns from party, cites political direction, convictions

Sokonte Davies, a former member of the House of Representatives and a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, has resigned from the party. The resignation came after a period of reflection on the party's direction and his personal beliefs. Davies cited concerns over the ADC's internal processes and its political trajectory as reasons for his decision.

In a letter dated August 12, he addressed the Ward Chairman of the ADC in the Ward 10 of the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State. He signed the letter personally, acknowledging a time of careful consideration of his political journey, principles, and expectations for the party. Davies, who had previously served as the National Secretary of the ADC Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Committee, stressed that his decision was personal and deliberate.

He made it clear that the decision was not motivated by any bitterness or animosity towards any individual, leader, or member of the party. Despite his resignation, Davies expressed gratitude for the opportunities his membership in the ADC provided and wished the party, its leadership, members, and supporters well. He reiterated his commitment to a better Nigeria and the advancement of democratic values and good governance.
