Rain hits parts of UAE as showers sweep Al Ain and drizzle falls in Fujairah

Rain made its presence known across sections of the United Arab Emirates on Friday, as convective clouds gathered over eastern and southern regions. Al Ain bore the brunt of the showers, with reports of rainfall along Khatm Al Shiklah Road. Meanwhile, the Fujairah region encountered cloudy skies and intermittent light drizzle. These weather fluctuations adhered to the National Centre of Meteorology's forecast, which predicted fair to partly cloudy skies with a possibility of convective clouds forming over eastern and southern areas, leading to rainfall in the afternoon.

Winds were anticipated to be light to moderate but were expected to intensify around cloud formations. Speeds could rise to 40km/h in coastal areas and 45km/h inland and over the mountains. Temperatures were expected to soar to 47°C in internal areas, while coastal and island regions would experience maximums ranging between 37°C and 42°C, and mountainous areas would see temperatures between 33°C and 37°C.

Humidity levels were forecast to climb overnight and continue into Saturday morning over some western areas, potentially giving rise to fog or mist.

The likelihood of rain was expected to persist into the weekend, although weather conditions were projected to vary regionally. On Saturday, August 22, skies were expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with convective clouds developing over eastern and southern areas and bringing afternoon rainfall. Temperatures were forecast to climb gradually, with wind speeds potentially reaching 40km/h.

By Sunday, August 23, conditions were expected to remain fair to partly cloudy, with clouds forming over eastern areas during the afternoon. The National Centre of Meteorology forecast did not specifically mention rainfall for Sunday, with wind speeds potentially reaching 35km/h. The unsettled weather pattern could resurface early next week, with clouds developing in eastern areas on Monday potentially becoming convective during the afternoon.

Tuesday is forecast to bring another chance of rainfall associated with convective clouds in the east. The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea were expected to remain mostly stable through the weekend.
