Putin Reveals Prabowo's Russia Visit Plans for Early September

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia's presidential candidate, would be visiting Vladivostok at the beginning of September. This news was shared on Monday, August 17, 2026, through Russia's official presidential website in a congratulatory message for Indonesia's 81st Independence Day.

Putin expressed his excitement about the upcoming meeting between the two leaders in Vladivostok, stating that Indonesia has gained recognition for its achievements in economic and social sectors, and has earned respect globally. He emphasized that Russia and Indonesia should continue their constructive cooperation to expand mutually beneficial partnerships, both directly and in international forums like BRICS.

Putin believed that strengthening these relations would benefit both countries and contribute to security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

President Prabowo conveyed his appreciation for Putin's message, wishing him robust health and success in his state endeavors. He also thanked all Indonesian citizens. The last time Prabowo visited Russia was on April 13, 2026, where he met with Putin at the Kremlin Palace to discuss strategic issues and opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

This planned visit comes in the wake of a devastating earthquake that struck Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province nearly a week ago. Despite this, President Prabowo's visit to the disaster site has not yet been confirmed. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi mentioned that the President's visit is still in planning stages, but the government is actively handling the situation.

Prasetyo noted that presidential visits to disaster areas require special attention and resources, and that the central government monitors the disaster response daily.
