PNG Supply To Begin Soon In Nanded; 4,000 Homes To Get Connections

Nanded residents are set to receive domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply soon, bringing relief to the district's population. Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL), a joint venture between GAIL and BPCL, has initiated the laying of the PNG network as per District Collector Rahul Kardile's directive. This initiative falls under the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project.

The first phase of the project involves laying a 15-kilometre MDPE gas pipeline across key areas of Nanded city, such as Farandenagar, Tirumalanagar, Chhatrapati Chowk, Canal Road, D-Mart complex, Taroda Khurd, Kautha, and Ravinagar. This network will enable direct gas connections to approximately 4,000 households, providing an energy source that is 10 to 15 per cent cheaper than existing LPG cylinders.

MNGL will cover the entire cost of installing the necessary infrastructure, including the gas pipeline from the exterior wall of the customer's home to the kitchen, ensuring a free service for the residents. The pipeline will guarantee a continuous and uninterrupted 24-hour gas supply, eliminating worries about gas shortages and the need for bookings and deliveries.

The use of PNG is a safer alternative to domestic LPG cylinders and is considered a green fuel. It is smokeless, causing relatively less pollution. The district administration has urged residents in pipeline work areas to take advantage of this facility, encouraging citizens to embrace PNG connections for a safe, affordable, and uninterrupted gas supply.
