PM Shehbaz, President Zardari call for global action against terrorism

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari have jointly called for global action against terrorism, emphasizing that no territory should be used for terrorism against another nation. This call was made on August 21, International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, to honor and support terrorism victims worldwide.

In their respective messages, the leaders highlighted Pakistan's immense suffering due to terrorism, noting that the country has witnessed the ultimate sacrifice of its armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and countless innocent citizens. They stressed that terrorism is a manifestation of diseased minds and inhuman ideologies, and that no nation, civilization, religion, or faith advocates terrorism.

Both leaders called for unconditional condemnation of terrorism and effective mutual cooperation by the international community for its complete eradication. They also emphasized the importance of rehabilitation for victims, both physically, psychologically, and socially, and urged global, national, collective, and individual efforts to combat terrorism.

President Zardari specifically remembered the assassination of his late wife Benazir Bhutto and the 2014 Army Public School attack, which claimed nearly 150 lives, and called for condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, asserting that no territory should be used to perpetrate terrorism against another country or provide sanctuary, financing, weapons, or logistical assistance to terrorist organizations.
