PHOTOS: AU chair, Obasanjo meet over continental peace, stability

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo met with African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Youssouf on Friday to discuss regional developments and other matters of continental importance. The African Union released a statement confirming the meeting, which highlighted peace, dialogue, and stability as key topics of conversation.

Youssouf praised Obasanjo's ongoing involvement in continental affairs and his commitment to promoting peace and stability across Africa. "The Chairperson commended President Obasanjo’s continued engagement in support of peace, dialogue and stability across the continent," the statement read.

Obasanjo, who currently serves as an AU High Representative, took up the role in August 2021 and has since been appointed to continue his peace and mediation efforts in the region. The two leaders engaged in discussions about key regional developments and other continental issues. According to the statement, "The two leaders exchanged views on key regional developments and other issues of continental interest."
