NPP elections: NOEC extends deadline for filing nomination forms for national officers elections

The National Officers Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party has extended the deadline for filing nomination forms for the 2026 National Officers Elections by two days. The new filing window runs from Sunday, August 23 until Saturday, August 29. The original deadline had been Thursday, August 27. The extension was announced on Friday, August 21 in response to strong interest in the upcoming elections.

As of Thursday, August 20, 44 aspirants had already begun collecting nomination forms. The Committee stated the extra time was necessary to ensure a smooth filing process and give each candidate ample opportunity to submit and verify their documents. The vetting process, which will now begin on Monday, August 31 and conclude on Thursday, September 3, remains unchanged.

All other milestones on the election timeline will proceed as scheduled. The revised schedule includes the opening and closing of nominations from August 17-22, publication of vetting results on September 5, and the National Officers Election on October 3, 2026.
