NiDCOM hails ‘London bus aunty’ over UK bus stop named in her honour

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has praised Nigerian-born nurse and social media star, Bemi Orojuogun, known as "London Bus Aunty," for the naming of a London bus stop in her honor. NiDCOM's Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, hailed the recognition as a remarkable achievement and a point of pride for Nigeria and the Nigerian diaspora.

In a statement, Dabiri-Erewa highlighted how Orojuogun's journey exemplifies the positive impact that passion, authenticity, and a strong connection to one's heritage can have on a global scale. The statement emphasized that Orojuogun's widely popular videos showcasing London's iconic red buses have not only entertained audiences but also fostered a deeper connection between the Nigerian community and the UK's transport system.

NiDCOM also commended Transport for London (TfL) for acknowledging Orojuogun's contribution and celebrating her bond with the city's transit community. Orojuogun, who has resided in the UK for over three decades, gained widespread recognition through her engaging videos featuring London's buses, which amassed millions of views on social media.

She expressed her gratitude to TfL for the honor, thanking them for the recognition and praising their dedication to maintaining the city's transport network.
