NADRA Makes Proof of Life Certificate Free and Widely Accessible for Pensioners

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a free Proof of Life Certificate (PoLC) for pensioners across Pakistan. This initiative, initiated by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, is designed to simplify the process for elderly, bedridden, and differently-abled pensioners who struggle to visit banks or pension offices for periodic proof-of-life requirements.

Pensioners can now obtain the PoLC digitally through the convenient PakID mobile application, or at over 5,000 e-Sahulat franchises, 988 NADRA Registration Centers, and 500 Union Councils nationwide. For those with limited mobility, the PoLC is also available via NADRA's Mobile Registration Vans, bike services, and man-pack registration services.

This reform, coordinated with the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, Ministry of Defense, and Controller General of Accounts (CGA), also involves the establishment of a National Pensioners Register. The register keeps pension authorities updated on relevant changes and enables banks to perform digital verification of pensioner status, streamlining pension disbursement and reducing reliance on physical or paper-based verifications.
