Maharashtra man, son fall from cliff after fight over phone, mother follows

A tragic incident occurred in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Friday when a family dispute over a mobile phone led to the deaths of three members. The victims were 19-year-old Kunal Chandgude, his father Murlidhar Chandgude aged 48, and their mother Sangita. The family resided in the Zalta Phata area of the city. According to local reports, Kunal visited Khawadya hill in Tisgaon around 10 am due to an argument with his parents regarding the need for a mobile phone.

Following his departure, Murlidhar and Sangita arrived at the hill shortly after and attempted to dissuade him from returning home. Emergency services, including police, villagers, and fire brigade personnel, arrived at the scene and spent nearly three hours attempting to bring Kunal down. Despite efforts to place a safety net beneath the cliff, Kunal continued to move along the cliff's edge.

At approximately 1 pm, Murlidhar moved closer to his son in a bid to calm and guide him away from the cliff's edge. Tragically, Kunal jumped from the cliff; in an attempt to save his son, Murlidhar followed suit and fell as well. Sangita, who witnessed her husband and son fall, also jumped from the cliff moments later. All three victims succumbed to their injuries, and their bodies were recovered by the police and subsequently sent for postmortem examination.

The incident took place in the Tisgaon area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Waluj MIDC police station. Residents reported that the hill has a history of witnessing suicide attempts.
