Kevin McGonigle's custom cleats are all Detroit ... and they're sweet

Kevin McGonigle, the Tigers' rookie shortstop, has been making Detroit his home from day one. As part of Major League Baseball Players Weekend, which kicks off with Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals, McGonigle unveiled his custom cleats adorned with several prominent Detroit symbols. These include the city skyline, an 8 Mile road sign, the Spirit of Detroit, and the Ambassador Bridge.

The cleats were crafted by local artist Juliana Rabban, whose Instagram handle is justbyjuliana. In response to the image posted by a Detroit News reporter on X, a fan suggested that the Tigers could potentially make these cleats available to the public. The MLB Players Weekend initiative, now in its third year, aims to allow players to add a personal touch to their uniforms, similar to Miami Marlins outfielder Jakob Marsee's custom bat that honors his alma maters, Central Michigan and Allen Park.
