Kamarudin Jaffar dijangka kembali sertai PKR?

PETAJAYA: Former Bandar Tun Razak MP Kamarudin Jaffar is reportedly set to rejoin the People's Justice Party (PKR) following a call from his party president, Anwar Ibrahim. According to sources, Jaffar has submitted a request to rejoin PKR and a formal announcement of this decision is expected soon from the party leadership. He has applied to be a PKR candidate for the Cheras constituency, and PKR does not have any issues accepting him, according to the source.

Anwar Ibrahim's call for the former party leader to return has been received positively. While PKR Wilayah Persekutuan has not commented further, the source confirms that the development demonstrates PKR's continued relevance even after the controversy involving former PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli's switch to Bersatu. Jaffar's return to PKR could further strengthen the party's chances of retaining their parliamentary seats, particularly in federal constituencies.

Jaffar had previously joined PKR in 2015 from PAS before defecting to Bersatu in 2020 alongside 10 of his colleagues, which contributed to the downfall of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) 1.0 government. Jaffar was also a former MP for Tumpat representing PAS for three terms until 2013 before contesting the Bandar Tun Razak seat on the PKR ticket in the 2014 general election.

Current and former deputy presidents of PKR, Dr Xavier Jayakumar and Tian Chua, have also reaffirmed Jaffar's potential rejoining of the party.
