Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has hailed former military Head of State Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, IBB, as a great Nigerian. This declaration came despite IBB's imprisonment of Sani and other citizens in the 1990s. In a post on X, Sani celebrated IBB's 85th birthday, praising his infrastructural development achievements.
Sani, known for his human rights activism and previous involvement with the Campaign for Democracy, was himself imprisoned in 1994. He initially faced arrest in October 1994 and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison by a military tribunal on treason charges.
