How Pensioners Can Get a Proof of Life Certificate Through the PakID App

Pensioners in Pakistan can now obtain a Proof of Life Certificate without leaving their homes, thanks to the PakID mobile application. Launched on August 20, 2026, by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), this digital service is available free of charge, making it particularly beneficial for elderly, ill, or disabled pensioners who might find it challenging to visit a bank.

To acquire the certificate, users must first download the PakID app and create an account. Once logged in, they can access the Proof of Life option within the biometrics section. Applicants can choose to apply for themselves or on behalf of a blood relative. The pensioner must be present during the verification process, which includes facial and fingerprint verification.

Once completed, the certificate is automatically sent to the relevant pension controller, eliminating the need for the pensioner to physically bring a printed certificate to the bank.

Upon successful submission, the certificate can be downloaded from the ID Vault section within the PakID app, specifically from the POLC folder. NADRA also offers the option for pensioners who prefer not to use a smartphone to visit their nearest NADRA registration centre or e-Sahulat franchise, where a family member can assist with the process. As always, the certificate is provided free of charge, and pensioners should remember to bring their original identity documents along with them.
